I ordered 2 - 4x10 Beckson Rain Drain, Smoke Tinted, Opening Ports from Sailorman.com. He has them pretty cheap, I paid $137 for both including shipping.

Yesterday I marked the area and cut out the holes needed for the install.

I used a jig saw to cut out the holes, and used a 3/4 inch hole saw to make the two round holes for the drains on the bottom and filed them smooth. (BTW) the Liner was about 1/8" thick and the Hull was about 1/4" thick.

There was about an 3/4" gap between the hull and liner, the instructions called for either wood strips or foam to fill the gap, I chose foam. The one issue with the foam is you must wait 12 hours before you can trim it.

I used a sharp knife and razor blade to trim the foam.

The Spigot stuck out about 3/4" (just enough to get in the way). Here's a picture before I trimmed the Spigot.

I used the jig saw and dremel tool to cut the Spigot, then used sand paper and sanded it smooth. Here's how it looks after I trimmed the Spigot. I still need to sand it some more to even it up.

Here's a shot from the inside. I still need to trim the silicone sealant after it cures.

Another picture taken from the dock(the other side looks the same).

Planning a overnighter next weekend to try them out.

Follow the link. I bought the 4x10's,($64.80) they seem to fit the area better.

Would you recommend to trim the spigot before or after the installation? Nice job!

Great project Tom.
Any chance you could post some nice pics of your traveler with details?

I'm looking at installing a single port in the forward portion of the cockpit (under the traveller). It looks like this will work. What did you use for Foam?

Randy,
Beckson sends good instructions with each Port, they also have more detailed instructions on their web site. You will need to install the Port dry (without sealant) first to mark where you need to cut the spigot. I recommend you follow those instructions, the distance between the liner and hull was a little different on each side.

Greg,
The foam I used comes in a spray can. I picked it up in West Marine, (costly I might add $15) something to do with "Marine Grade". I expect you could get it much cheaper at any hardware store.

Paul,
The traveler is the stock Catalina traveler that comes on all WK's,
nothing fancy. I'll look for some better pictures.

Not having a 250, where is the interior access? I see one interior shot but it doesn't tell me the whole story. You did a very professional looking installation BTW.

My 89 25 has the 5X12 Beckson port in the quarterberth. I just added the Beckson internal rainshield
which allows the port to be left open all the time for ventilation. I also installed the Beckson shade, I am thrilled with both products.
