I was just going to buy one of those paint roller extention handles and glue the pole latch to the end. They sell the latch part at West Marine and they should fit right inside the end of the handle. The handle has the button that falls into one of the holes drilled at intervals in the telescopic tube. That way there is no twist lock which I found to be a disadvantage when the latch end does not align with the corresponding part on the mast. It certainly costs a lot less than $250.

Define the phrase "well found" in your head and buy the pole that meets your needs.

Ben:
Here's your low-budget whisker pole for a 110 jib.
You won't get any points for style, but for under $50, I figured it was a worthwhile experiment - an experiment that's in its 4th year. Besides, when it's not a whisker pole, it's a boathook.

Hopefully I just bought it, waiting to see how much shipping going to cost me.
I feel it is a great deal, Thanks Derek for posting it on the forum. Maybe next time I’m down in your area you can show me how to use it?

Good show carl B.! The price is sure better than a $500+ new one (that's why I described it as "cheapish"!).
Anytime you are down San Antonio way you are welcome to come for a sail.
