I just wanted to pass on to everyone that a part recently broke on my three year old Garhauer riggid boom vang and the company not only replaced the part free of charge, they also sent it via overnight UPS at no charge so I would have it installed for this weekends race.

That's excellent customer service in my book. If you need quality hardware at a reasonable price check them out at garhauer.com. They are Catalina's primary hardware supplier.

THANX FOR THAT INFO.
Did you buy it directly from Garhauer or through CD?

Al, Dealing with Garhauer is reminiscent of times gone by. You don't see that kind of product certainty very often now-a-days. Least wise not I.

At the beginning of summer I finally pulled the original motor mount off which had a lower spring that was bent and popping off when I lowered the motor.
I live about an hour from the Garhaur "factory" (it's not very big; at the back of an industrial park backing up to the railroad) so I drove over late in the day. I spoke to the owner about just replacing the springs so he had the guy who builds them take a look at it. He said he'd replace the springs and bearings and one of the support beams and be done in 20 minutes....as in, he dropped what he was currently doing to do my job!!!! He did all this, then polished it completely so it looked new and they charged me $75 plus tax and I was on my way in about 30 minutes. THAT's what I call service....and they were happy to do it, too
Every time I've ever dealt with them they have been down-to-earth about all their work and eager to help us poor (read "cheap") sailors get back out on the water quickly.
PS - I got to oogle their full line of blocks and other neat boat stuff while waiting in the back room. Now THAT was a treat.

Father, mother and son are always at the Annapolis boat show. They are a pleasure to talk to. Stickler for quality at a good price.

Mike,

Yes, I bought directly from them. They have a very complete and fairly easy to navigate on-line catalog. I ordered by phone and talked to Mark. He seems to know our boats. The phone number is (909)985-7513.

It would be great to have them just outside my back door.

In their pre-website days, you'd often end up talking with the shop foreman when you ordered. Talk about going directly to the source.

Watch what you say... They'll be swamped with business, outgrow their facility, hire a Customer Service Department, install a "Your call is important to us--thank you for your patience" phone system, declare their old models "no longer supported", raise their prices, and start advertising in Sail Magazine.
