A little cool but wind was up. Could snow tonight but we dressed good and lots of sun until the clouds came. Carl and I tacked when the sun left and headed back talking of how great it is even when the weather cools. We sailed today for ourselves and for our friend John who's C25 we loaded for the last time on the trailer the day before. A bunch of friends got together to help bring the boat home and we remembered the great cruises and the races. Merle is not able to handle the boat by herself but they sailed until John was 83. We have invited her to sail with us next season and will get to remember the sailing with them. Isn't sailing great?

"Isn't sailing great?"

Yes it is...

Light rain falling on the coast this morning... I think you're going to get closed out over in the Sierras pretty soon. Over here on the beach, we have some of our best sailing in the winter.

Yes, Jim, sailing is great!

I, too, went sailing last night. With only a week or two left in the season, I have to take advantage of every opportunity.

Last night was about as close to perfect as one can get. Winds around 10kts and consistent, seas around 1ft, and a 3/4 moon in a cloudless, star filled sky. Nothing like gliding along and looking up and seeing the sails against a background of stars. I sailed alongside a friend, another singlehanded sailor, for about an hour talking about the fantastic conditions and the fast approaching winter haul out. As we approached the marina buoys, I couldn't bring myself to call it a night, so we parted ways and I headed back out.

As far as sailing experiences go, there isn't anything quite like singlehanded, night time sailing, especially when conditions are near perfect!

Ah yes, life is good!

Full moon this weekend and winds predicted to be 20kts after a weak cold front moves through the area. I've already informed the Admiral I'm doing an overnighter! I think it just has to be in your blood.

This weekend we have Fleet Week, Blue Angels, and Air Races along the SF waterfront with clear skies and temps in the 70s. Winds expected to be 10-20kts. More boats will be on the bay this weekend than any other time of the year. I was out last year and it was like bumper cars (without the bumping). I think I'll be sailing on anotgher part of the bay this year (and maybe just watch from afar). I will definitely be out there on Sunday. Saturday I'll be at the Cal-Oregon game :)
