There is a chance that my wife and I will be able to get away to attend the annual rendezvous at Two Harbors, Catalina Island. Are there any of you planning on attending? Attendance of others could swing the scales to a definite. This would require pulling the boat and trailering 300 miles and I am starting to feel the urge for a road trip. The dates are July 12-14.

Ed,
Brigitte and I are going to Hunnington on the 19th or so for the race week end. If you want a little shorter trip that could be cool too. We already have a cabin arranged there.

Ed:

I already signed up a few weeks ago. Here is the link to the form --

https://www.catalinayachts.com/west.phtml

If you decide to go, you should sign up by this Friday, as the cost goes up after that.

My wife, two daughters and I went last year. It was a <u>fantastic</u> event. Over 100 boats. Great people. Lots of vendor seminars. Lots of <u>nice</u> "door prizes" -- I won a Raytheon handheld VHF, plus a generous West Marine gift certificate for having the most onboard a tiller-steared boat. It seems they were constantly pulling numbers out of the barrel and almost everyone won something. They even gave away a 1 week charter on their Cat-50 down in the Bahamas.

We plan to go over from LA Harbor the morning of July 11. We usually try to get a spot on the string line because there's usually a spot open and it keeps us close to the dinghy dock -- important as it seems I'm constantly ferrying kids and/or supplies to/from shore.

While I have never used it, I hear the boat ramp at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro (near the end of the 110 freeway) is good. I think it's the closest ramp to the island. http://www.cabrilloaq.org/dmap.htm -- The boat ramp is accross the parking lot from the aquarium. If you need any help, let me know -- I live only 5 minutes away from there.

Ed -- you should go. You will have a great time.

Have fun in the mountains Matt.

Thanks for the reply Richard. I have used the ramp you mentioned 3 years ago on my first trip to Catalina and Two Harbors. What a great destination. Last time we spent a night in the marina there in San Pedro before venturing out the next morning. This time (hopefully we are going) we will probably just leave straight for the island. I will keep you posted on our plans and maybe we can hook up.
