Well the hints did not go unnoticed for me. Kestral 2000 wind/temp/wind chill meter, floating key chain shaped like a shark, shackle key/multitool, and one of those flashlights that you shake to charge the battery. There were other items, but this is the sailing stuff.
Racing watch Lifeline mounted beverage holder Boat shoes
My wife got a Kayak and paddle. That was a deferred gift since I got her a dingy last summer, she got tired of the little geysers getting our stuff wet:)
The admiral snuck these things under the tree.. Aiptek DZ0 V58 digital cam corder & 512MB SD card. 6 CD's of audio Sci-Fi books from Audible Two Catalina C250 Shirts (1 long sleeved & 1 T)
and the kids got us a bunch of 'thought you might like these for the boat' things.
The best gift of all.. "sharing christmas with our kids and our 3 year old grandson who now really gets the 'open it' concept"
This is the first time in 17 years that I didn't get sme type of add-on boat equipment. I did get a hand-crank portable radio so I can minimize carrying AA batts, and Don Casey's book on boat electronics. After seventeen years I have everythng on it I want except a dodger and a cruising spinnaker furler, big ticket items that will probably wait until......whenever, if ever.
While not exactly for xmas, or the boat, we got a new Kipor 3000TI generator, similar to the Honda 3000EU. Our power was out for about 4 hours shy of a week so, towards the (unbeknownst to us) end, we finally decided to get the generator. We didn't want to go through the xmas weekend w/o power, and if nothing else wanted to get our fridge running again. I think our power came back on within 15 minutes or so of the transaction, wouldn't you know it? We're going to keep it anyway, we can use it for lots of things boat related and now we have a backup for when the power goes out again, like last night. Three inches of snow and the power was out for a few hours.
We also got ourselves a new (to us) Avon 315 inflatable that came with a 4HP Mercury OB. It was a great deal we found on Craigslist.
And finally, we traded for a brand new Hitachi 42" plasma HDTV, our true xmas present to each other. It feels weird to have the players in a football game seem to be in your living room with you.
Well, you didn't say "what did santa bring for the boat..."
I actually don't want to put a TV on the boat, I hate to think I'd be sitting downstairs watching the tube when I could be sitting on a catbird seat watching stars instead. I plan to get a nice big planisphere & red flashlight for doing just that.
I got a to ride on a plane and cross 11 time zones. It is great to back in the USA! The family and boat survived 2 months, 2 hurricane force storms and a solid dusting of snow. Glad to b home. Happy holidays.
