My boat just splashed with a new bottom and a newly waxed hull! So now I am looking into purchasing dock wheels for my slip and I have some questions...
Does anyone have dock wheels installed at their slip? How do you like them? Are they worth the investment?
From my research I have found the following:
Manufacturer Taylor - per their specifications you need their 12" for a 20 to 30' boat - WM has them for 'only' (ahem) $179.99. Other websites have them cheaper.
Manufacturer unknown (maybe a Taylor clone) - from www.boaterscatalog.com - 12" on sale = $104.50
Manufacturer unknown (maybe a Taylor clone)- marineengineparts.com - 12" on sale = $79.95
Astro Nautics - available from Defender.com - has 10" and 14" dock wheels. They look different than the Taylor made ones. The 10" ones are only $74.99. Just looked and they are also a bit cheaper than that on eBay. Does anyone know if these are any good? Would the 10" be adequate for a 250? Or should I go up to the 14"?
I have had it both ways, I have never had a really bad event but there have been times when they have helped. I have an ebay off brand which is like an inch or two smaller than the Taylor I have; honestly I think the cheap one works just fine. I have neighbors who bought utility tires and made their own. They put cloth covers over the black tires.
