The Mid-West Winter Cruise was a success. We had good winds, acceptable temperatures, good sailing, good food, good beverages, and camaraderie. The West Access Marina on Lake Carlyle Illinois is an excellent facility. I hope to be doing this again next year, and why not, the last two Winter Cruises have been great. I encourage everybody to try something like this in your area.

I will have to second that! How often do you get sail 13 miles on one tack in 15-20 knots of wind? We had three C25's and one C-22 show up to brave the cold and a very lonley lake that was just begging to be ripped!!! And rip it we did. If there are any C-25 sailors from Lake Carlyle on the formum, I have one serious question? Do any of you guys race? if so let us know. I know the sailors of LSC (Indiana) would love to come over and put a case or two of beer on the table for the challeng. Great job Randy for an excellent adventure! Ever been lost in a light plane? I have (long before GPS)... You can't "pull over and ask someone", and you can't read the road signs--at least not from a legal altitude. On Long Island Sound, I've had many powerboaters ask me where the hell they are... I say "Port Jefferson, NY" (actually on the opposite shore). Depending on their sobriety, I'd get some interesting reactions.

Dave send me the Entry Forms and contact info and we can make it happen. The reference to "pull over and ask someone" was a quote from "Captain Ron" movie we watched while enjoying the club house at West Access Marine,(you had to be there) what a great place to winter over from a cold sail.

A former C25 owner and private pilot told me reading the city names on water towers was a good way to verify location.

Amen to that! A lot, if not most, of my sailing consists of heading straight out of my marina on one tack for X amount of hours, then tacking once for the return trip.
