I went out sailing yesterday. It was in high 40s. No other boats except one Coast Guard boat and the local crew teams. Always have to watch out for those crew boats - They sneak up on you. I was out from about 430pm to 730pm. Going out this winter was hindered for about a month when the Potomac River froze over this year. But I have been able to sail for about a month now.

Anyway, as I was leaving my boat - Noticed they must have just turned the water spigots on the docks back on ! I was planning on bringing buckets of water from the bathroom to start the outside cleaning effort but now no need for a bucket brigade. Plus......the weather today is zooming up into the 70s !!!!!! Winds 12-22mph (maybe higher) Hmmm! Sail or wash the boat ? I'll check the winds prediction later today and maybe do a wash first since the winds are going to moderate a bit toward evening...and then go out for awhile. Such decisions to make !

So...any signs of Spring in your neck of the woods ?

Yes, the snow is really dirty and melted off the driveway.

The temperature can has ranged from 60 to below 20 over the last few days.

Another week and I might feel safe taking the cover off the boat. Only four weeks and two days.

Well, in our area we have been seeing it for a while now. The flowering trees are in bloom and many are starting their leaves. Spring for us brings pretty high winds and yesterday we had gusts of 30-35mph. Only problem has been that weekends have brought rain...so we haven't been out yet. But, we are ready.

The first sign of Spring?

For me, it's my annual pilgrimage to West Marine to pick up my VC17m during their Spring sale.

BTW, anyone else notice they raised the price of VC this year. The last few years it was $42.99 ($37.99 during the spring sale) and this year it's $47.99, but you get $8.00 off during the spring sale.

When is the spring WM sale?? I need VC17M. Also, I see in the catalog that they have the old style VC17M, not the Extra, but at a higher cost. Is it better? More copper?

It's been Spring for a month in south-central Texas. The bluebonnets (the State flower) are in blossom along the highways & byways, and the rest of the wild flowers are coming along. The cactus is in bloom with its huge white bell shaped mass of flowers. Temps are hovering around 80 but we've had lots of rain the last 2 weeks - which we sorely needed

The marker for my mooring anchor popped through the ice yesterday, which means that there's not much left in front of the house except slush. It hasn't started moving yet, but I'd say about two to three.

It's 55 degrees today and the snow is melting fast. Spring is early after a relatively mild winter. I should be able to pull my boat out in a week or two and start prepping for launch.
