I am considering buy an inverter. WM has a 200, 400 and 800w. I mainly want to use laptop-about 65w?. I can also recharge my gps. Does anyone out there have/use one? Any recommendations.

I have a 300W I picked up at Sams Club a while back. I have a 12volt adapter for the laptop, so I cant help there. However it does operate my dremel, drill and Jig saw. I would look for them in the big box stores, I'm sure you can get them cheaper than at WM. You might want to check my favorite shopping place first, E-bay. I just did a quick search for inverters and 2564 popped up.
Pure sine, and modified sine. That's talking about the shape of the wave.....
Modified sine are cheaper, look in the automotive supplier world.....RV, etc. But, not all sensitive electronics like a modified sine.... Some delicate apparatus need a pure sine... computers are one of them. But they are more $$.
My computer is OK with the modified sine on the charger. I've heard other people have problems.
The inverter at harbor freight is a great deal but I need one that plugs into my cig lighter, not battery terminals. What a great store. There is one by me too.
Go to the nearest auto parts store or Wally Mart and buy the cig lighter plug kit, about $5. It comes with the plug and socket. Now attach the plug to the inverter pigtails and plug it in to your onboard socket.
