I am trying to make side pannels out of sunbrella, Does anybody know a good size needle for sewing by hand , and any tips , I broke two needles so far . And the thread we have keeps jamming the seweing machine . I am going to local shops to day to see what they have . Everything is a project
I can't remember the size of the needle - obviously one the thread can pass through easily, but the thing that makes it possible for the machine is an upper feed dog attachment. Put that thing on and you can go through multiple layers of heavy fabric.
The General does a lot of machine quilting and the feed dog attachment is called a WALKING FOOT. So when you go into the sewing center ask for the walking foot to match your machine and they will think your a PRO. They are kind of expensive, the one my wife uses cost $150, but like I said she does a lot of machine quilting.
