The first few slides are good hints of what it can be like out there. This storm was expected for several days--no need for any of those boats to be there.
not to sound unsympathetic, but (never mind, I am pretty unsympathetic at this point. can't even use my usual "there but for the grace of God go I" filter) sailing into the "graveyard of the Atlantic" with severe storm forecasts is not good seamanship. wonder how brave people would be without EPRIB's, radios and a CG that has brave souls that can pluck people out of the frying pan?
We think we're living on the edge when the wind kicks up 2' whitecaps on our lake.
I hear you Nadi, but our government saves a lot of souls from all sorts of acts of apparent self-destruction. I guess rescuing sailors from themselves shouldn't be any different. I'm thankful that we have a CG available and that they are so good at what they do.
