Does anyone have any experience sailing out of Bellingham? Trying to plan a summer 2008 cruise out there w/ family. Looking for recommendations on destinations, route, and free looks at nav charts for the San Juans.

Daren, You'll probably want to put in at Cap Sante in Anacortes instead of Bellingham. A round trip on their boat hoist is $55 and saves you the trouble of a launch & retrieval. You're closer to the San Juans when you launch, so you save some transit time.
Hey Daren, So you're looking to charter out there right? It sure would be a long haul across the country from our area. I know, how about sailing down the coast, around the Gulf of Mexico, through the Panama Canal, and up the west coast to WA? Come on, it's doable on our C-25s with the family!
I still have to complete my circumnavigation of the DelMarVa Peninsula before I take my C-25 around the lower 48! The B-Ham trip will be a bareboat charter!
Contact me. I live in the area and would be glad to help with your trip. dgyoung50@msn.com
1. How many days do you plan to cruise. 2. How many people and their age. 3. Do you plan to go into Cnadaian Waters I.E. Victoria. 4. Do you prefer gunkholes and beaches or developed harbors. 5. What type and size boat.
I have all the tips you will need. Where to find the best hot showers Where to find the local winery, best icecream, food. Places to restock Currents, tides, FOG. I can also tell you where the largest sailboaters party of the year will be. Poulsbo 2nd weekend of August. Latitudes and Attitudes.
If your sailing out of Bellingham it's a piece of cake. A round robin trip of the San Juan Islands would be easy. 1 week for a quick tour or two weeks for a relaxing cruise.
See the flag cerimony at Roche Harbor at sunset and a cannon salute. Visit the Orcas at Lime Kiln. See the one room schoolhouse in beautiful Stuart Island. Build a driftwood fort at Spencer Spit. See wonderful sunsets for the numerous little bays. Eat fresh cooked Dungines crab or fresh caught salmon. It's all withing a few hours of Bellingham. Spend a quiet night enjoying Sucia Island. Yep it's all there. You will love being on Island time.
Oh and launching at Bellingham id far better than Cap Santi. It's only a few hours from the first and one of the best Islands. Sucia .
