Hey Bill, Called you on VHF a few times yesterday. Hey Jude and Sparky went out to Angel Is. and back. Aborted Racoon Str. cuz Sparky sailing w/o a motor and wasn't much breeze right there and current against us. Would have taken a long time so headed back dodging the obligatory monster ship. Jim towed me out and in. Should have the motor back from the shop next week.
Paul - see my post in the Cat25 forum about 'one thing leads to another'. That's why you haven't seen or heard me out there all month! Soon to be rectified though, so keep callin'!
Bill, I launched on Saturday in Richmond's Marina Bay. Sunday was very odd weather (morning: Southernly wind, afternoon: Northerly wind). Point Richmond at 11am, light wind from the South. Motored through Racoon straight and sailed just beyond Golden Gate bridge (moderate winds from the West). Sailed past Pier 39, under Oakland Bay bridge, then motored East of Treasure island (3pm). Sailed to Point Richmond, moderate winds from the North.
I rented a slip at Marina Bay for the next week. Russ (C250WB #793)
Russ - we must have passed each other! I got my 'new' rudder on the boat Sunday afternoon and went to Olympic Circle 'E' mark and back. Rounded E about 5:30pm. I'm glad we didn't have one of those honkers like Paul was dealing with in South Bay. It was a nice day to be out - sounds like you had a good one.
Starting Thursday, my son is here on leave for 2 weeks before he gets redeployed to Iraq. He's not too keen on sailing so I don't know how much I'll be out.
