Nominations are now open for all officer positions in the association for the term that begins October 1st, 2007.
Frank Hopper, after years of service to the organization, is going to take a break. We all thank you VERY much for your efforts Frank.
Duane Wolff has screwed up and sold his C25 in favor of another boat, so he is no longer eligible to work his butt off for the assoiation. Darn.. Our loss. Thanks Duane.
Rick Barry no longer owns a Capri, so is not eligible either. Thanks VERY much for being the first Capri 25 Measurer Rick, and for helping us transition the Capri 25 owners into the organization.
Ben plans on resigning his position as well (see message on General Forum), so we need a nomination for that office.
Bill Meinert did a great job as Chief Measurer this year, and worked tirelessly on the Nationals. I think Frank and Duane are working on him to fill another office, so I will wait on renominating him...
I nominate myself to continue as secretary, unless someone else wants the post.
So, we especially need nominations for all of the of the offices except secretary: Commodore, Vice-commodore, Treasurer, Chief Measurer, Capri 25 Chief Measurer.
Many folks nominate themselves, so please don't feel shy about that. We just need help, need folks who will take the relatively small amount of time to help move the association forward, and keep it the valuable group that it is.
If you know someone that you think would be good in any of the offices, please talk to them and nominate them.
We are losing several very valuable folks this year, please step up, pitch in, and help us keep the association going strong!
Nominations must be received by me, either in this thread, in email to kevin@catapult.biz, or via mail to
Kevin Mackenzie 1201 NE 92nd Ave. Vancouver, WA 98664
by noon on September 1st, 2007.
Ballots will be made available on this web site (paper copies also acceptable) on September 7th 2007.
Duane Wolff has agree to count the votes for us, as he will no longer be a member of the association.
Questions or comments, please let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin Mackenzie Former Association Secretary and Commodore "Dogs Allowed" '06 C250WK #881 and "Jasmine" '01 Maine Cat 30 #34
Kevin You may want to make this thread a sticky so it won't drop off. Everyone I know are on there summer cruises, I will be in Traverse Bay for the rest of the week, see you in 10 mdays.
I nominate Jim Stark for Capri 25 Measurer. Jim has been a solid member of the Capri 25 community for many years now. He is an avid racer and the type of person who is stable and sees more than one side of an issue. He isn't afraid to buck the status quo, but doesn't do so simply for the sake of it. Please support him in a role that I think will become much more significant for the Capri owners especially and the Catalina 25 owners in general as time goes on.
Commodore - Kevin Mackenzie Vice Commodore - Bill Meinert Treasurer - none so far Secretary - Justin Wolfe Chief (C25/250) Measurer - none so far Capri 25 Measurer - Jim Stark
I previously nominated myself for secretary, but withdraw that since Frank has persuaded me to run for Commodore.
JB will continue to do bookkeeping for the organization over the coming year, so treasurer is an analysis and oversight job. Hope someone out there will volunteer for treasurer, and also someone for chief measurer.
Well, I never raced my C-25 (except one time when I outran a 60' Swan)... and since I retired, I've forgotten how to analyze and oversee... and most importantly, I no longer even own a Catalina. Maybe I could still run for Chief Curmudgeon (...against Frank on his Ericson.)
Nominations are technically closed, and I am putting together a ballot, but it would be really great to get someone to volunteer for Chief Measurer and for Treasurer...
