making more of your signature. In the following text I'm going to use curly braces to indicate where you should use square braces.
The intent is to add a pic to your signature. 1st you must have an image somewhere on the web, let's say your pic is at http://www.someplace.com/somedir/somepic.gif And that it's about the right size (you really don't want a large pic in your signature.)
Ok, if you were to include that pic in a post on the forum you would use (don't forget I'm using curly braces, you should replace them with square braces) .. {img}http://www.someplace.com/somedir/somepic.gif{/img}
Now you can do that in your signature file. Here's an easy way to do that. Start a 'new' thread in the forum but do not submit it! Instead, preview it. The preview opens in a new window or new Tab.(IE7Option) In that new thread, add a pic as in my example above. Once you see it as you want in the preview, then just cut and paste the whole message into your signature edit field.
Ok, now to repeat that as a step by step process. a) Start a new topic b) Add your signature pic to the new topic c) Preview it and keep editing till it is correct. d) Copy it to your clipboard(windows = Ctrl + A then Ctrl + C e) Do not post the new topic. f) Click on the 'Profile' link in the top right menu. g) You'll have to supply your login info. h) Delete whatever is in the Signature field i) Paste contents of your clipboard into the signature field (windows = Ctrl + V) j) Click on Preview of your signature to check it is ok. k) Click on Submit to save your signature settings.
FYI, there is an additional trick: you can have your sig pic also act as a link to your favorite webpage (see mine by clicking on my sig pic) Here's how you do that...
