Hi! First allow me to thank all of you who volunteer to manage the Association and this site. It has proven really invaluable to me these past two years. The Forum has saved me from countless mistakes - I would have been rather lost without the support and insight of the members and the Forum.
(this is SO NOT a criticism!) I write to ask why I am not listed in the members area. I was looking to see who is in my area, and discovered I am not listed in the members directory w/ email addresses. I believe my dues are current.
This is my information: #1672 - Whisper, 1980 standard rig, swing keel Jerry Limoncelli, S. Jamesport NY jerlim@aol.com
Inclusion on the Owners list is not automatic, as some folks do not want to be listed. There is a link at the top of the page that you can follow to request that you be added to the list. Paul (webmaster for our site) updates the list periodically...
Jerry, About a year ago there was a concern that the owner's list had e-mail addresses and non-members might use that list for spam e-mail. So that list was moved to the Member's area. A separate list was created without e-mail addresses and kept in the public area. Since then, only the public list has been updated. You are on the public list --> Owners
The problem of maintaining 2 lists was mentioned in the March 14, 2007 Officers meeting minutes.
Jerry--with that information, you might now want to edit your e-mail address out of the first post above. One reason addresses aren't published in public areas here is that spammers operate automatic "harvesting" systems that scan through web pages at the speed of light, recording any address they find. Harvesting systems can't get into password-protected pages.
This is also why the forum provides the E-Mail thie Member link on the member's profile page.
