The pintles were one of the very few parts I did not replace last spring when I was doing lots of refurb. The lower one broke a few days ago, actually the strap on one side failed, I got the load off quickly and got it back to it's slip. The interesting thing is how much thicker the straps on the new parts are (I replaced them both) It is about twice as thick, better welds, much more robust. The broken piece had a discolored section that I believe shows it had been cracked for awhile. Might be worth checking if yours have been in the water for some time....
