Just got back from a 4 day trip from Newport Beach to Catalina. Left on a Thursday and was told I would have no problems getting a mooring at Avalon. I got there about 2pm and everything was booked. We headed for the Isthmus, about 2 hours west of Avalon and got on a string line. We had a fabulous time. Piseas II handled beautifully. Hey, Steve, did you know we can now reserve the stringline for busy season weekends? We did for the Catalina Rendezvous, #2. Were you there? Terrific gathering, great food and prizes and presentations. I was a lucky prize drawing winner Friday night: the new 6 watt Icom radio, 200 bucks at WM! As for the stringline...a bit too "cheek by jowl" for our comfort. The downside of Friday night was a small power boat right next to us that partied until almost 0400. If you were at the Rendezvous, let us know your thoughts. Thanks.
