This weekend I saw the movie "Failure to Launch". Well, in one of the scenes the main character Tripp played by Matthew McConaughey is a yacht broker walking around the boat yard showing his clients some boats. They walk by one sailboat that looks quite familiar and end up filming right in front of it. Isn't that a C-25, hmmm navy blue with gold pin stripe? Worn red bottom paint? That sail cover looks similar to mine. I think those registration numbers look like mine. I pause the movie and check my photos. Sure enough, that is my Catalina 25!! Wow, it sure was cool to be watching a movie and see them filming right in front of my boat! Here are two screen shots I took:

I then looked up on www.imdb.com and found they filmed most of the movie in Oxford and Annapolis, MD. My C-25 was originally from Oxford, MD. I then did a search and found this link to the Oxford Boatyard and they mention the movie being filmed at their marina (http://www.oxfordboatyard.com/stories.html)

Overall a good movie and there are a lot of nice sailboats and a couple sailing scenes!

Mine is gonna be in the remake of "Captain Ron"

That's really great!

Any way you could get royalties for use of your boat?

At least you can buy the movie and show it to your grandkids some day.

Very cool! Send him a copy of the picture and ask for an autograph. Sweeten the pot with an open invitation to a sail anytime he is in town.

Will also check out the movie.

I have sailed on one of the Ron boats a few times, a Formosa 51 on Galveston Bay. I have not seen it in a while. Seeing my 25 in a movie would be fun too.
