How does the 250 WB compare to the Santana 2023C WB? I know the Santana is 2-3 shorter, and weighs less. What are the sailing charateristics of each. I have sailed on Santana 2023A and C models, but never on a 250WB. The Santana are considerably less expensive (approx. $7-9K). They are also no longer made but parts are avaialble through Schock. They will also be a few years older than a 250WB. The Santana also had a great mast raising system and was ready to sail in 30 minutes from trailer to water.
I thought the Santana sailed great in 15knots of wind with some chop. It did not feel as tender as I thought it would. Overall it was a nice ride (fast, went to weather well, sailed great on all poins of sail, and accomodations below were adequate for 2-3 adults on the C model.
My primary uses are day sailing with occasional camping aboard for 2-3 nights in summer. I may put boat in a slip in summer for a month or two, but will mainly be trailed to and from sailing destinations. Tow vehicle is not a problem for either boat and I have great storage for boat at home. I usually sail with 2-3 adults, or 2 adults 1 child, or 2 adults 2 children.
I'm in So. Cal. Someone here on the board offered a ride in San Diego, but I foolishly did not get back to them in a timely manner, as I was moving and changed Internet service providers and lost emails and phone numbers. Oh well :(
