I've been reading a bit about Boomkickers and wonder if any of you guys have installed & use one, specifically the BK 1000? One of the things touted on their site is how it makes reefing easier & safer which sounds like good things. Currently our reefing is still a trying experience, even with the double reef we put in.

With the pivot top of the 250 I would say the rigid vang is a perfect solution. I use a BoomKicker brand and it works very well however its lack of strength to hold a person's weight if they lean on the boom is a problem for me. Because of that I have an adjustable topping lift as well... which makes the BoomKicker redundant. Sailing World has an excellent article on the genre in their Oct issue. If you order a BoomKicker direct from them they custom cut it for your specific boat for free. As for helping with reefing, the adjustable topping lift serves the same function in that the boom is supported when you ease the halyard to set the reef.
We have one and like it very much. You do need to be attentive to supporting yourself with the boom but we are used to it and do not use a topping lift. I like the simplicity of the boomkicker and it does not interfere in any way with the lift top. We got ours from the site below. It is fitted especially for the C250 and comes with an anti-roll device for the boom.
