Well, we got a little excitement today. SE 14 to 17 with gust to 24. We started out with full sail and went up river fast on close reach, but couldn't come much closer to the wind without getting a lot of heel and the admiral didn't like that. Then we almost ran into another boat that we were overtaking when they round up in front of us so we decided to slow it down a bit. We dropped the Genoa and put a reef in the main and sailed a little while with just the reefed main, but that was kind of slow and boring. Then we put up the little jib and that was just enough to make it mild mannered fun. Anyway, the 11 of November, I'll take it.

Not sure where you are located, but any time you can sail in November is a bonus!

Two weeks ago I sailed in 10-15 knots, 45 degrees. Yesterday the lake is just about frozen over with 4-6 inches of snow on the ground!

Sounds like you learned something useful. Reefed main + smaller jib = nice ride + happy admiral = priceless!
