Sort of.

I put in my launch request today. Should be in the water on 4/15!

That's our target too if the Army Corps of Engineers does their job and gets the lake filled up!!

I just need a few warm days to finish out my Winter projects, then it's just 45 minutes to sails furled. Ours is in the water year round and I have been putting in time on the projects in the garage. We moved 45 minutes closer to the lake this past November, so I am looking for a great season with a lot less driving. Hope your weather gets you out soon.

I am looking at a launch in Mid April if I get my new motor bracket installed and my new headsail gets delivered. Also, got to do my coat of VC-17. This will beat my August 1st launch last year.

I already made my request - I get back from our biggest annual trade show on Thursday, 17 April, should be on the water on Sat. Let's pray for an early Spring (amen).

Oh, we just got out sailing three days in a row after six weeks of cold and rain. Finally got a pacific high built in and up to 60 today. Friday and Saturday we had light winds, but enough to sail. Today the east wind kicked in and we had 10 to 15 knots. Yahoo! One more day tomorrow and then back to rain it looks like.

Just a quick edit: Make that 4 days in a row. Today was the best day of the 4. I think we are finally getting a feel for this boat. About 4:30 it dropped off to 8 to 9 and it seemed boring.
From the NOAA obsevations:
18 Feb 3:30 pm SE 13G15 60 OK
18 Feb 3:20 pm SE 14G15 60 OK
18 Feb 3:00 pm SE 12G14 60 OK
18 Feb 2:50 pm SE 14G14 58 OK
18 Feb 2:30 pm SE 14G14 57 OK
18 Feb 2:20 pm SE 14G16 58 OK
18 Feb 2:00 pm SE 13G14 58 OK
18 Feb 1:50 pm SE 14G15 58 OK
18 Feb 1:30 pm SE 16G17 61 OK

For those of you who are waiting for spring I will post a picture to show there is hope.

With its inaugaural launch (for me anyway), I have no idea when. I was aiming for a 5/1 launch, however, I think that's being optimistic. The weather should turn in southern New England by March 1-15 to make it easier to start doing work. Long list!

Okay, thinking of moving my launch up to next weekend. I just need some of great Boat Modification Minds to come up with a means to outfit mine with ice skates or some kind of ice ram device. IDEAS??????

While I have been sailing thru the winter, the sailing tends to be short sails confining myself to an area not more than about 5 miles away from the marina. It is more of a time for me to work my projects and get the boat ready for new official season. So when is that exactly ? In our area, I would say it is when the American Coots (waddle around like a duck but are not ducks) go back home to Canada and perhaps just before the swallows and purple martins return with a frenzy dropping their poops on the deck.

For me, I feel pretty good having finished up some major improvements already boom vang installed, bunk extension finished and new sails received. I put my new Quantum main sail on the boom a few days ago and it seems to be sized perfectly. The main is abit oversized compared to the original - The sail just misses the aft stay by about an 1". Since the sail is new, it was a bit of a challenge getting it folded up and then get the cover wrapped around it with the twist snaps secured.

What's left ? I probably will install my new Quantum 150 genoa in a few weeks. I am working with the cordless scrubber/polisher/buffer on the cockpit area. After that, will try it on the non-skid with a non-skid cleaner/polisher. Then as soon as it gets a bit warmer (though yesterday it hit into the 70s but today it's back into the 30s), need to slap on a coat of cetol to the wood trim and then when they turn the water back on to the slips, wash the boat, attend to a few scuff marks & dirty streak marks and then put 1-2 coats of Poliglow on.

Then the owl and the beach ball with the big eyes comes out of the quarterberth area to await the new flock of birds that will be arriving.

Spring is almost here !
