Well, back for another update, we went out sailng this last weekend. We were rewarded with another day of fabulous weather, still lil chilly, as it was colder than forcast, but all the same it was great day of sailing. I took some advice and installed a ratchet block that I had on hand, it helped contol the furler line on the way out which was great, however, if I needed to furl with a load, no joy, so have decicded to go ahead with the winch, it might be pricey, and over kill, but the way I see it I like the comfort of having an dedicated winch, dont have to tack or mess around if I have wich just for that purpose. I have enclose a few of the 85 pics we took while sailing enjoy we did, Love that feeling
Starting the day out winds lil slack but still around 10knts the girls really enjoy the low side, thrill of water rushing by my buddy enjoying the sail, winds picked up closer to 15knts NOW we are sailing

Since you mentioned a dedicated furler line winch... if I go that route it will be an electric winch with a continuous furler line. In high winds that's the last tough job left for me sailing single handed. Keep the pictures coming.

Hey, I sail on Kentucky lake. I have sailed on Barren River lake, nice lake, but by far Ky lake is the best. Heck just the last weekend, We sailed in 20 knots on the nose...on way back from raft up....woooohhhhooo....what a sail....and the C 42, what a boat, powered up on a beam reach to 8.4 knots, and that was not even triming sheets to get the best out of her....what a great boat. so I love my 42 and ky lake is not bad for lakes in Ky. I will try and send a new topic later and tell more... Cheers
Bear... I was looking on Google Earth... I'm curious: Where do you consider the southern end of KY Lake to be? (The north end is obviously the dam that creates the lake.)
Hi guys been away awhile, been sailing, and working, or should I say working and sailing when I get away. Any how, Dave for me the south end is the first bridge you find going south, I cant get under it, its too short. About the pics, when I put them on before they where bigger, not sure what happen, I will try and get on next week and see about posting some more I got some great ones of her going under the canal bridge, and of her under sail although not much wind. Cheers.
Dave, I think most folks consider the end of Ky Lake to be around Paris Landing in TN., close to Hwy 79. Technically, it stretches well into TN, as far south as Hwy 70 if you can see that on your charts. It's been my experience that most of the sailing activity takes place between the dam and Hwy 68 (crosses about half way down the Land Between The Lakes State Park that is between Ky Lake and Lake Barkley, about 50 miles each way. Incidentally, the 2 lakes are connected by a channel near the dams, which makes it possible to travel by water from Nashville to Mobile Bay. Hey Bear, are you a member of KLSC? They put on some good racing up there. Several years ago I crewed for a guy on a 33 ft Swiftsure in a 100 mile race. The last 25 miles was tacking downwind under both spinnaker and blooper. It was awesome!
