I had the guys at Les Schwab (tire center) remove the little tire from the hub, and gave the scrap steel to my neighbor to um...scrap.
I'm debating on whether to keep the little tire & rim as a spare, it's virtually brand new, still has the little bits of rubber on the tread. Is anyone interested in just the tire?
I'm not sure anyone would be interested in this, but thought I'd post it. I've bought the Tie Down Engineering spare tire carrier & hub as recommended by Nautiduck and no long need this:
It's very stoutly made, so local pickup is probably best, but if you're determined, you can have the whole thing for the cost of shipping. It's probably 50 lbs, so it won't be cheap to ship.
You'll need new u-bolts and straps, I was only able to get one off & resorted to cutting the other three off.

Well, the hub's welded to the frame, not sure how easy it'd be to remove it. I have a friend who's a blacksmith, but I'd think for what he'd charge to cut it away, plus shipping, you'd be well on your way to a new hub. If you're still interested, let me know.
