Well, I talked the comptroller into a new Tohatsu 9.9 which is on order. I'm selling my 1997 Johnson 8hp Sailmaster 2 stroke. Price does not include shipping, local pickup is probably the best idea. NADA lists the engine at 64 lbs, so take that into consideration if you want to ship it somewhere.

Too bad you live in Wa. I'd buy it but I think the round trip from Texas might eat up any savings I might have reaped.

I told one of my best friends about it, and he told me I was an idiot. He said to take a look at the listings on CL for similar engines and it should be worth more than twice what I was asking on here. So I listed it for $850 and got a response about an hour later. Guy with a new to him Columbia 26. He's only given me a down payment via Paypal, but it was a substantial one, and he'll follow up after he gets paid on the 20th with the rest of the cash. This seemed earnest enough to me, so I pulled the ad from CL and I'm holding it for him.

Just handed over the Johnson to it's happy new owners. They drove up here in a snow storm to get it. Nice couple, although I didn't get to talk to the lady much, she quickly retreated to the warmth of the Jeep to get out of the snow. Can't say as I blame her. They're taking the engine down to the boat tonight so they can get it installed immediately, in a snow storm... Glad I sold it to someone so enthusiastic.

Boy, I'll bet he'd be pissed if he saw this ad.
