Actually, it wasn't cheap; the dive trip cost me 125 bucks! It's a number 8 Danforth, ideal for my 250 stern hook; hadn't been down long. Around 70 feet off Blue Caverns, Catalina Island. I always pack a lift bag with me for such opportunities. I wrapped the chain before ascending. I didn't fill the bag and shoot it up because it might have hit a diver on his way up. I simply carried it to the surface, dumping some air on the way. As to the green hue, my flash doesn't reach that far.

I've found two anchors in my diving life. First one I found had a chain wrapped around it - not too unlike this one - and we had to use a cutting torch to get it untangled. The other one I found was off the Kona Coast of Hawaii in the cove where the Cpt Cook memorial is. The anchor I saw was one of Cpt Cook's - or so I'm told. It was about 10 feet long and certainly looked old enough to be Cpt Cook's. It is partially buried in the bottom. I was very excited about it until we got back to the dive boat and the other guys had a great laugh at my expense. Apparently this anchor is 'discovered' several hundred times a year and can be seen by anyone with a snorkel and mask and who can swim 20 ft off shore.
