Has anyone ever use those Free Standing Sunshades that I've seen on Westmarine.com? There are other sites that are cheaper (of course) but I was just wondering if they work on C25s and which size works best.
David, I have seen that product. Basically, If you like a grey plastic tarp over your head, its fine for dockside or at anchor. That prompted me to design with my canvas guy a prototype of a shade contraption called SolaRx. I will post pics when it is finished at the end of the month. You will want one. Sunbrella canvas that sets up in 2 minutes and provides 64 sq ft of shade. When you want it down it folds, then rolls into a tube and is stored down below or in the lazarette.
No I don't have any of the Pro-Techt sunshades. The boat I was looking at up at Lake Grapevine (Andiamo) had them. They were very well made and looked like they might work well.

Defender has a 6ft shade by Taylor Made for $160. Personally I am looking into bimini. I want protection while I sail. I also looked into the Pro-techt, Mantis but have not seen one installed and no members will confirm or endorse. Also by the time you buy 2 (but you probably need 4), almost same price as bimini Steve A
My wife and I use those umbrellas that clamp to the backs of lawn chairs. We move them around as needed attached to the stern rails. They are a little lite in a wind but if it is blowing who needs them.
I have a Mantis Pro-techt, and though it is better than nothing, when you tack, you have to move it to the opposite rail, which can be cumbersome. Also, the stand it is attached to, is a little too tall for blocking much sunlight in the cockpit.
