i have a 1982 catalina and it looks like the knotmeter and deptdhfinder are original built into the starboard side cockpit wall. problem... the knotmeter never worked and the depth finder only works when my engine is in forward and running. Is that normal? I'd like to know the depth when sailing and the engine is off. who makes the replacements?
Tom, The wiring to my instruments was original and had corroded to the point that the wires broke-off. If it's not the wiring, you may want to contact the manufacturer (I'd be surprised if the name isn't on them somewhere) and see if they will test/repair them, or even give you a trade allowance toward new ones. See West Marine or BoatUS cats for manufacturers.
