I love a post like this. "local sailmaker" It must be wonderful to live somewhere that there actually is a local marine industry. Now, if you need calve pulling gloves I have multiple local options!

Pardon my naivete, but I figgured that Conneticut (where I believe Voyager is from) might have a sailmaker or two within driving distance. But you are right about the links to carbon fiber battens, they would be lighter than fiberglass if you are a serious racer. Now, about those calve pulling gloves... could thay be used for pig pushing also?
You are absolutely right, I am sure Ct does have lofts. Most have lofts we have... http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Home_10551_10001 I envy people with local lofts. We have one guy 100 miles south (Kerr) and one guy 100 miles north (Wolff), both are to be admired for being sailmakers in the midwest but I don't know how much keelboat work they get.
edit, actually its calf and calves, shows what I know.

For navigating the amber WAVES of grain no doubt.
Also after much research I found out that you can push a pig into the water but you can't make it float... Who Knew!
We have a North Sails in the next town. I reckon I'll give them a try. We also have a Tractor Supply, but its up in Dave Bristle's neck of the woods, in Griswold. That's where they keep their polo-ponies!
