I ordered some teflon tape for my sliding hatch from Catalina Direct, it arrived today, one 10" (inch) strip for $2.45 and $8.95 for shipping. Am I missing something? Has anyone else ordered the tape from Catalina Direct? Any problems?

I ordered some last year from them. It is 2.45 per foot. I guessed I needed about 7 feet and ended up short and had to order more AND, paid shipping again!
The tape they sell is very thick. Not really tape at all. It's flat on one side and rounded on the other. It is the correct part to use. Make sure you clean the area very well before applying the tape. Mine has started to come off again.

Are your tops getting stuck? <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Mine seems to have warped. I have a lot of scratches from rubbing against the deck when sliding the plexi forward. So I have resistance there but not at the tape locations.
I called Catalina Direct back and was told it's $2.45 per foot, it's not worth that to me so I'll shop around or do without. When I ordered it no specific amount was discussed so I assumed it was a roll, enough for the hatch. The hatch slides OK without any tape now, I'll look at some tape recommended above. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
I'm virtually positive that the stuff I stripped off of mine was UHMW tape, and not Teflon, that's why I replaced it with that. However, the PO or PPO could have replaced a Teflon tape that came with mine, and I'd never know the difference. What I do know is that you can buy UHMW tape for roughly 20% of what CD is offering their tape for, and I can vouch for it's performance, my hatch slides really well, and the tape sticks very well.
Thanks Dave, I checked that website for UHMW and that's what I'll go with, much cheaper and if it works for you then that's good enough for me. Thanks for the link!
I think the prices on Paul's link are better than Lee Valley's. As long as it's got similar adhesive properties (the stuff from Lee Valley is almost like contact cement for tackiness), I'd buy from them instead.
As recommended on this site about a year ago, I got a roll of Jananese Glide Tape from Annapolis Permormance Sailing, It's a bit expensive at $20.00/roll, but has enough to do several boats , it's a 26' roll. I used uhmw tape, but the tape that holds it on, broke down in the sun and didn't last very long, I've had the Japanese Glide tape in place for about a year and it works great.

I will second the Japanese Glide Tape! Great stuff. Looks just like it did when I put it on 3 years ago. I can't remember where I bought it at, but I was able to buy it by the foot.
