I have a 83 swinger and with the rising costs at marinas I would like to build a trailer to bring the boat home in the winter. Can anyone suggest what size material to use and dimensions if you have them.
I don't know if this will help, but I bought a tandem wheel, roll-on trailer for $450 and then built extenders to raise the rollers up about 14 inches. I had them welded into I beams for $60.00 and it works perfectly. I don't think you can buy the materials to build a trailer cheaper than finding a used one. In my case, I had to dispose of the un-useable boat on the trailer but that was managed by selling the engine/outdrive and using the proceeds to have the boat hauled to the dump. All told, I think I am into it at about $600.
