Watch the proverbial doo doo hit the fan about 3/4 the way through when the windline arrives.

Good illustration as to why you need to pay close attention to the weather... and take action before the bad stuff hits.

I wonder why they didn't alter course and avoid the line, seems they could have doubled back and missed the whole thing...

I believe they were on a delivery trip in a Bayfield 36... which is a pretty capable bluewater boat. No problem handling the conditions as long as they got their sails down... which they did in a big hurry.
At 7 kts I don't think they could have avoided the squall line anyway.

I'm not a habitual swearer, but I probably would have uttered a few choice words in that situation myself.

I've seen waterspouts when I've been out on fishing boats and they made me apprehensive, but I've never gotten that close to one.
