Essentially, if oyu have to old cast aluminum castings, they can fail unpredictably and then you lose your mast and your day is shot. I am asking $125. They are 139 on the site.
I still have the spreader bracket kit. According to catalina, the cast aluminum bracket can fail without any evidence of potential failure. I had the old style cast spreader brackets so I thought it was good insurance. If your spreaders break, then you will be demasted. I thought it was cheaper to buy a little insurance than to have to replace an expensive mast.
I still have the spreader bracket kit and the chainplate upgrade available. I ahve dropped the spreader kit to $100 and the chainplate kit fir $55. I will even pay shipping anywhere in the cont US.
