I recently bought the boat and notice the deck is in need of some type of protective coating. It stains easily !
I was wondering what type of paint or coating members have used.

Are lower priced but good quality generic paints available? Is slip resistant paint available and how long does the slip resistance last?
I want to keep it white in color. When is the best time of year to do this work? I have a slip on the Chesapeake Bay.

there are a few really good "non slip" deck waxes available, after a thorough cleaning and buffing.

Scrub the deck with Soft scrub with bleach using a softer scotch brite pad/sponge the use Woody Wax as Directed (using a brush to apply it etc.), maybe twice, I do this every spring and the deck stays clean, is not slippery and looks like new. I compounded, polished and waxed the areas that are without non skid. My boat is a little newer, but it looked pretty bad when I got it. It gets lots of compliments now.

Forgot to mention, I would not paint it unless there was absolutely no other option, It won't hold up that well and is a real pain when you have to redo it again..

I asgree too. Don't paint unless other means exhausted. That said, I have painted hull and deck on two boats because they were in such bad shape that there was no real alternative. I use Interlux Brightsides one part poly paint. I painted this C25 three years ago. The hull is still great, but I need to re-coat the deck. This is the trade-off you make. Once you start painting, you never really stop. As with any other painting you do, preparation is 90% of the job.

Sorry. I forgot to mention that on the deck I do not like a high gloss finish. Interlux makes a flattening agent which you add to the paint to dull it down.
