We held our Wurstfest Regatta this weekend (Wurstfest is Octoberfest in November with more beer!)We were fleeted in Non-Spin "B" (PHRF's > 199) Saturday we started Race 1 in a light breeze which held throughout the race. While halfway through Race 2 the breeze started to die and finally went to zero gusting to 1. We crawled our way to the finish line with the knotmeter registering zero! Race 3 was abandoned for lack of wind. Sunday appeared to be a repeat of Saturday, but the forecast called for increasing wind during the day. We started Race 4 in a nice 5k breeze which did indeed build during the race. By the time we finished there were white caps all over. In between races we switched from the light air genoa to the 105. Our main competition reefed their main and the other with whom we were duelling for 1st place kept up their 155 and full main (we watched them roundup a couple of times!). We got a good start in the 18 knots it was now blowing and held a lead all the way round, finally holding off the Cal 24-3 and the Hunter 25.5 on the last downwind leg to win the last race and the Regatta. Our other competitors were a Cat 25SR, an SJ 7.9, and a Precision 23. A great weekend was had by all.

We were there on a whirlwind tour to Copperas Cove, Austin, Waco, Little Rock, Ark., and then home in October. All this having to do with family stuff so did not have time for any playing. Next time maybe in June, will let you know. How about your trip to Florida????

Dave, I only had my old main at the Nationals and couldn't fly the hi-tech kevlar/carbon fiber 155% as it was too powerful for the Cheney winds. Now I have a new main - full battened, loose foot and a BIG roach! BTW - the crew flew themselves in - they both got delayed in Houston and didn't get to the Lake until 3 a.m. the night before the races.
