I got some poor quality but exciting photos of BMW Oracle trimaran out sailing Tuesday. The thing is huge - 90 feet x 90 feet. I wanted to shout starboard, coming up! But didn't instead we took photos. I'll post the photos tonight.

The lawyers are at it.
That sea trial Vodcast on the website was filmed in Puget Sound, just south and east of the San Juan Islands. (It was built in Anacortes) I didn't drive up for it, but it was quite an event for the sailing community around here when it was unveiled- lots of rumors for months!
So it/she is unnamed... (?) (<i>BMW Oracle Racing</i> isn't a name for a self-respecting sailboat.) And is the pronoun "she" warranted? Or is this thing an "it"? Anyway, I can outrun it/her...
I can't wait until these modern fast boats get old and some cruiser like me gets one and builds a liveaboard interior. Actually, with all that deck space I could put a couple condos on each side and make the worlds fastest houseboat!
Hey now! I haven't been hit for quite awhile now! And with that thing, I'd just capture the errant vessel and just attach it to my personal "Water World." Call it a "Salvage."
Speaking of which, and I'll try to have friends get a picture - I forgot, in Morehead City NC there is a stinkpot with pontoons on each side and a crappy houseboat structure built on top in the anchorage. It has a solar panel and in spray paint it says "water World."
Rescued a Oday 272 yesterday in Wrightsville Beach that actually bumped a C34 in the anchorage. Guy had all of 25 feet out in 12 feet of water. It sat there for a day or so and then for some reason she was off to the races. Hit the coasties as I was climbing into the dink and they were there before I had the anchor reset. It was redeployed, the Coasties told me they had it and they moved it away from everyone else - dunno - didn't hit me.

Renaming Lysistrata to "Stuff Happens" or just for kicks maybe I'll name MY boat BMW Oracle!
Maybe there should be some signs around anchorages: "Minimum Scope 5:1" Then maybe you'd at least get some radio calls: "Can somebody tell me what the hell that means?"
