I will be in San Diego in a few weeks on business and would love to sail while there. I currently sail a Cat-25 on Lake Chickamauga in Tennessee and would like to know if anyone with a Cat-25 or Cat-30 would be willing to let me crew for a day sail on Sunday 10/13. Thanks, Bruce '83 FK/TR 3538 "BellaSera"
Thanks Dave. I am really looking forward to being there. Guess there are no takers who want to take me out for a few hours one day.. I guess I will have to rent something if I am going to get out on the water. Bruce
Bruce: Any guided missile cruisers, destroyers, container ships, or aircraft carriers moving about on Lake Chickamauga? If not, keep your eyes open and take cover in S.D. Bay... You don't have right-of-way, even on starboard! <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey B.jones, Here is a web site for San Diego. It lists about 12 different charter outfits and their costs. http://www.sdwaterfront.com/charter.shtml I felt that the best outfit was called "Seaforth Rentals, they have has cat 250's, 270's a cat 30 and one or two bigger, all for you to rent by the day or week. As I recall a c250 was about $165 per day, and the Cat 30 was about $235 per day. As I recall the 30 was kinda ratty condition, but the 270 was spankin new. They have 2-3 rental locations . One was at Mission bay, and one was in San diego Bay at the tourist trap called SeaPort Village ( near Downtown San Diego). Check out that website, it will be worth your while.
Dave Bristle: I think you have reinforced by feeling that I need to go with someone familiar with the San Diego area my first time sailing there. Most of my sailing has been limited to inland waters (at least since my Coast Guard days - many moon's ago). Although we do have a lot of barge traffic and a lot of large power boats here on the lake(Tennessee River),nothing like San Diego. G.clarke: Thanks for the great web site. I have also contact one called ORION Charters which has a 32' Ericson. They charge $65. for 3 hours and will throw in some sailing lessons. I will probably walk the docks at the marina and if no one takes pity on me and takes me out for a few hours I will probably try Capt. Keith with ORION Charters. Thanks again, Bruce "BellaSera" '83 #3538 TR/FK
