I never heard Obama speak until today. Very inspiring! Our entire office took a lunch break to watch the proceedings. I never realized how much uncertainty there is down there, and how much hope Obama represents to so many people.
Best of luck to you all. Many happy tomorrows to you.

Chris, first its just amazing we now have a black Prez. I have always been interested in politics so I have followed Obama and the "Hope" he has always stressed has been his main theme. It has brought this country together especially in a time we need hope. He has his work cut out for him. I just hope he is not like other politicians but walks the talk. Time will tell.... Steve A

Under the rules of the forum, political commentary is prohibited. Offenders may be banned from the forum. These rules are not new. Before they were put into writing, we had an unwritten rule against political discussions on the forum. This rule should not come as a surprise to anyone, especially officers.

I agree that it should probably go away, but it didn't BECOME political it STARTED political then it just got funny, then it got political again.

Best of luck to you all. Many happy tomorrows to you.

This thread was political from the outset. Political comment includes words that speak approvingly of political figures, as well as words that are critical of them. The President of the United States is a politician, and is never more politically controversial than during or immediately after an election. In either case, the words are likely to engender strong disagreement. Although I'm sure this thread was well-intentioned, it was doomed from the start to go sideways, because it constituted comment (an expression of opinion) about a political person. In view of our rule against political comment, it should never have been posted. Once posted, the members should have policed themselves and each other, and exercised restraint from replying with comment.

Sad that that is too much for us to handle gracefully, but it proves the point. This comment is bipartisan. Sarge out.
