Beautiful! In the first video, offshore, at that speed, and with moderately-sized seas, I think I'd want the hatchboards in place, in case of a broach. It doesn’t happen often, but I saw video of an Etchell that broached on the Chesapeake Bay with the hatchboards out, and it filled with water and sank within a minute. That boat looks very stable at that speed, and a broach looks unlikely, but handling the hatchboards is a minor inconvenience compared to the consequences of a sudden sinking offshore, where help will take awhile to get there. From what I’ve seen, most racers (myself included, but I’m working on that) don’t close the hatchboards when they should.
