Many thanks to Rany Kolb for sharing his travels (page#8) in the Canadian Islands. It's not only a terrific sailing log but a story about a family that sails together. In the tech tips (page T23) Paul Harrison shared his travails reinstalling his windows. I'm sorry the Mainsheet editors did not include his photos. I will try to get the photos and full report in our web site's tech tips.
Thanks John! It was fun writing the article and both you and Dave Bennet helped immensely with editing and photo selection. I think Mainsheet also did a very nice layout job.
I encourage others to write about their cruising adventures as well. These are terrific pocket cruisers and it is good to let people know that you don't need a large boat to have fun cruising. In fact, being trailerable, we can take these boats to places that are not practical time-wise for big boats.
Any of you interested in some PNW cruising next summer? We'll be going out again for a couple of weeks and it would be great to have some other Association boats. Thinking of going further north into the Canadian islands but we're flexible.
I'm planning the cruise this summer and will be looking to meet up with other 25's. The last cruise was really fun meeting Forum members at the dock. Randy you really caught me off guard with a call on my birthday when the Harbor Master had just presented me with a cake that I shared with the other cruisers. Would like the plan the party again but include the Nautiduck. My daughter will be traveling with me as she first did the cruise when she was 14. Her daughter is now in college and will not be able to come. She takes lots of pictures which this time I will be able to share with the Forum. Maybe the Scotts will be in the area too. Snow tonight so the boat projects are on hold. The boat is in it's shelter and the trailer tires are blocked up so not a lot to get ready. Will use the Cruising Forum with ideas and plans.
Jim, your suggestions about cruising in the San Juans have been very valuable to us. It would be a kick to cruise with you and your daughter. I'll keep my eye out for your plans.
Sorry about the snow down there. Here it is raining which is a good thing because they closed the dam February 1 and now the lake is filling. Our target is to be in the water by early April.
Randy, great article. I just got caught up with that issue. My lake is only 17 miles long so we can't do that kind of traveling with our boat (fin keel, no trailer).
Your trip sounded like a fine family vacation. One question, on the Pub Bus, were you wearing a tie?
