Hello once again.
My 1977 Catalina 25 has no privacy to the head. I think it may have had a curtain at one time but not sure. I have been noticing on the newer models a sliding door that looks really nice. Can anyone give me some advise on where to buy one or how to fabricate a door for my year of Catalina?

Thanks, Pat

Go to Home Depot. This one might work. You maight have to trim the bottom.

That door at Home Depot is very close the look and style of the older Cats.
One would have to trim the bottom for sure. Good recommendation, John.

YES! Looks like a nice replacement for the original with a little trimming. VERY GOOD!

Pat - FYI, there were actually two of these accordion doors, one between the main salon and the head, and the other between the head and the v berth. Check to see if the original track(s) is(are) still in place.

Maybe you could put up some nice nautical fabric with a tie-back.

Keen eyes! That would be an excellent and relatively inexpensive solution that is consistent with the original!

Thanks everyone. I may incorperate both ideaes, folding door between the salon & head & a curtain between the v-bert & head.
I just bought a sewing machine & am redoing all the upholstery in the boat so one little curtain will be a breeze.
Once again thanks, Pat.

Our doors were looking pretty ratty, so we replaced them with fabric. We first removed the wood curtains from the existing hardware by opening up the metal clips that connected it to the upper track slides. We bought some nice beach towels, that had the pattern visible on both sides of them (some towels will be blank on one side). Resize the towels and sew them with a hem. The two vertical hems should be open on the top & bottom (like a sock) so a narrow slat of wood can be slipped inside of them. The wood slat will allow you to have a solid edge to attach (with screws) to the door frame on one side, and attach to the closing bar on the other side of the curtain. Pat since you don’t have the original door, you might try to find an overhead track with slides at a fabric shop. For the closing bar, you might try a Velcro tab sewn to the curtain hem about mid height.

Based on so many past threads, if you become good at sewing especially with Sunbrella fabrics, you may be able to start a side business replacing everyone's interior cushions . . . just a thought . . .

Has anyone ever done cafe doors, ones that swing and don't go all the way up or to the floor? If so, how did it turn out? Just thinkin' out loud!

I would think that the downside to some fabrics would be its tendency to hold moisture in high humidity environments.
