All the others in Class D are a lot bigger... Urge is hanging with them. NNW-13... if that holds, it will indeed be on the nose going home, but not punishing.
Urge is reporting a speed of 10.4 kts in 5.4 kts of wind... (?) Do you suppose that's apparent wind (they're on a broad reach), or is this pure surfing on the swells?
Urge is closing on the second-place boat in Class D, a Choate 48... It's getting interesting! If you activate the "Track" feature for the boats, and the "Show Weather" option, you get a better picture of courses and winds.
Oooooo... The two 48' leaders of Class D sail into a hole, while Urge jibes out and is sailing around it. First two are neck-and-neck, and 32' Urge should be gaining on them, leaving two 50' sleds (one skippered by its designer) in her wake.
You can see Urge gybing down the final 1/3 of the coast exactly as planned. The boat flys an Asym and is a reaching machine.
Class C is in the barn with Stark Raving Mad IV and Horizon seperated by only 23 minutes elapsed time. SRM taking line honors.
Class D is going to be close. Lets hope their strategy pays off. A sprint to the finish after 5 days at sea so far!

I am packed, nervous, a little frightened, and ready to go! Everything, is packed in plastic bags. I'm prepared for a submarine ride with an open deck. I've been sailing deep into the night the last week to get myself ready.
Urge is a little behind the 3rd place Sabrina, but is out where she can build speed on a broad reach compared to Sabrina's run, and she's doing a knot better than Sabrina. The finish could be exciting!
Ironically, the Dacron main might do as well on their point of sail now--a laminate main would be what you'd want going back upwind, for comfort, control and speed.
Nice play by play guys, felt like I was listening to the race being called in realtime as I read through it just now. I had thoughts of a horse race (like in The Sting) going on.
