Well I finished my season today and started the new one. Since March 11, 2008 I sailed 1906 nautical miles on my Catalina 25. At an average of 3 knots, that is over 600 hours at sea. I didn't count days but I reckon I sailed 175 days. I am not counting the miles sailed on other boats. I also did Newport - Ensenada (200 miles) and San Diego - Oceanside - San Diego (65 miles) on different boats. Combining that mileage would put me way over 2000 miles - my goal for the year.
After the delivery up Baja, I have 2 ocean races planned in April - Around the Coronados and The Border Run Newport - San Diego. I have about a race per month in San Diego Bay and I'll do a couple ocean races, too.
Although I'm starting off this year with nearly a 1000 mile delivery, I'm sure this year will be less miles on Indiscipline because I am burning too much vacation time to take a long cruise this summer.
I sailed two nights last week training for the delivery plus Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Plus I did single handed spinnaker set, gybe, and douse practice. GPS reset Sunday morning!
Now that daylight savings time is here you can expect to find me sailing every night after work except usually Friday night which I spend with the family.
