FYI

The Defender Marine annual warehouse sale will be taking place between March 26 and 29. This is an excellent opportunity to save a bundle. Anyone in the New England area can easily drive there and if in the market for an inflatable/outboard/kayak well worth the trip. However even those elsewhere can take advantage via on-line and call in orders.

Peter, I was looking forward to the sale. Last year I got tons of stuff. But his year, either I have everything I need or they just didn't have anything that grabbed me. How did you make out?

I got over there yesterday--the "secret day"... It was me and about four other people. A friend went today--it was him and about 400 other people, and the computer went down! Hard to beat 10% off Defender's prices.

Dave, you are fortunate living so close. I notice a lot of items required pick up only. Thats a long flight for me. Even w/o the 10%, their prices are very good. Their selection is so much larger than WM. Just don't know why this sale didn't intrigue me. But I look all the time.
So what did you get?

My wish list has shrunk with the economy. I had hoped to pick up a couple of Lewmar winches but PY is still less expensive and while I would love to shift to Anderson the Lewmars's would be a plug and play. Other than that, Have the electronics I need, cushions have to wait, have an outboard, can't afford a kayak -- oh if only my 104K would begin to resemble the 401K of the past -- then the Admiral would open the coffers to support the Navy, but until then . . .

I was in Worcester on Wednesday afternoon, and as I was driving back to Stratford, I wondered whether, if I detoured to Waterford, I could get the discounts. I called, they said that if I could wait another day, I'd love the sales. Oh well, as they say, timing is everything!

Bruce, I got an e-mail that Wed. morning saying the sale was ON. I drove over, and sure nuf... All that were missing were the manufacturer's reps and the crowds. (I parked by the door... On Thursday, you can end up parking by the highway.)

Steve: I just got some basics--bottom paint, Cetol, fuel treatment, a strobe for my PFD, and a few other things that added up to 3 boat units--about a BU less than WM.
