Today we hauled all the supplies, cushions, etc out to the boat and got everything put away. Tomorrow morning we raise the mast and bend on the sails and assemble the running rigging. Then a quick coat of VC17M and we launch. We'll be the second boat at the club to be in. Tomorrow the highs are around 60 and Sunday 70. YAHOOOOOOO!!!!!
We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.
Now now Steve, that's some strong words. You'll probably be in the water before we are. Earliest possible launch for our marina is May 1. Likely launch date is May 23.
I would like to see my boat in the lake as well, but with the forcast, I may get the Iceboat out for next week. Docks to go in May 1. Well see. Dave B.
I want to see pictures. The early launch here makes storms and because of the NW cruise I have to decide if it gives me time to even consider in the lake first. Hope it goes well.
OK, we're in! Big thanks to Jim and Cinda (Mariposa) who lent us a hand and their truck.
The Admiral and I arrived early to raise the mast and put on bottom paint. This year I only painted the rudder and 18" below the waterline.
We strap launched using 80' of strap. The launch was uneventful which isn't always the case for us.
Here is the Nauti Duck happily in her slip. We are the second boat at the club to be in.
We hoped to get the main on and be all done but after the launch the Admiral pulled out a bottle of champagne and that pretty much ended work for the day.
Tomorrow the forecast is for 70 degrees so we'll bend on the main, tune the rig and go sailing. This is the earliest we have ever been in and we're looking forward to a great season of sailing. One goal for us is to spend more nights on the boat anchored out on the lake.
Randy, With regards to your thanks to Jim and Cindy in Mariposa, that town is just a hop skip and jump from where I have my boat. If they are ever in need of a sail fix have them get in touch. Matt
OH Man! Everything was going well here in ohio. My boats in my driveway getting the big clean and wax, added my backstay, replacing my morningstar controller (under a great 5 year warranty) and now it is COVERED IN SNOW!!!!!
Blizzard outside! 3 inches on the ground with another today. We had mid 60's last week!
No snow where I am, but I would rather it snow than the 4 days of rain we have had! Not to mention the high winds! Was up on the roof last night in the rain. 38 and raining this am.
I do not even want to think about the boat now. I just want to curl with a good book and good glass of single malt
Matt, sorry for the confusion but Mariposa is the name of their C250 and the user-name for posting on this site. They live and sail in Eugene.
Guys, I almost feel guilty saying it but we had a great sail on Sunday and are going out again tonight for a couple of hours after work. If it is any consolation it is supposed to rain here again later in the week. As Bill Clinton used to say "I feel your pain."
