The compass on "Whim" (hull #3385) was installed down low in the cockpit well. And, the cover blew off this past winter. Can anyone tell me what mark and mod this compass was, and where I might find a replacement cover?

Thanks,

Fred

A compass is a dealer installed option. The make and model should be on the unit. If I had a compass in that odd location I would want it to be see though illuminated Plastimo Contest 101. You will always be able to buy a cover for a Plastimo compass..

I'd buy the new Ritchie Venture SR-2. It is made for our boats with angled bulkheads. It will work in bulkheads to 40 deg angle. AND it's made in the USA!

There is no angle where his compass is. I really like the see through feature of the Plastimo. It makes for a lovely night sailing light inside the cabin. As for made in America.. it just does not mean anything anymore.

I had a broken compass on the bulkhead when I bought my boat. The compasses are very expensive in my opinion, and having the compass on the bulkhead got in the way when the Admiral wanted to lean back.

Having a compass placed at another location is interesting. Ill check the PC101.

Thanks
Deric

I'd like to put mine in a different spot but the giant hole in the bulkhead sorta dictates where the compass will be. Oh well.

HappyD,

The hole I had in the bulkhead after I removed the compass is now used for a marine speaker. I wanted to place something in the hole that was useful, yet still allowed one to lean back.

The marine grade speaker is connected to my marine radio; thereby, allowing me to hear radio calls while I am in the cockpit.

Just an idea.
