I have been lurking in this forum for two weeks now and have found the information extremely valuable and the culture to be friendly. Thanks to all of you for making this a good place to be. I can't wait to take delivery of my boat!
Scott, Welcome to The Association. You sound like me 2 years ago! Tell me you doctored that pic. I have never seen that color of blue. Good luck on the boat tomorrow. If you get a chance, take some photos to post. We would love to see her. BTW, do you have a name yet? Steve A PS dont forget to order your burgee from us! The blue will match the water in the picture.
Her name is "Wandering Star." As far as I know I am the third owner. The second owner brought her to SD from Indiana. I like the name but was wondering if it is considered "wrong" to change a boat's name?
As for the blue sky. . . I wasn't trying to exaggerate, but I may have cranked up the saturation a little too much. But this was one of the summer days in SD when high pressure moved in and brought with it calm winds and pure skies.
Scott, I was referring to the blue water color. That was amazing. And as already pointed out, its ok to change name. I just changed mine but did the proper ceremony, as not to cause bad luck you know. I changed mine cuz I didnt like the PO's name and as this is my second boat, I wanted the same name but added II. Hi Scott, Welcome and Congratulations! As I often do, I brought up Google Earth, searched for Lake Oahe, SD just to get an idea of where you are and low and behold, there were a few beautiful photographs of the area ......... authored by none other than S. Shepard. Nice job, beautiful looking area.
GREAT PIC! I hope the wind comes up a bit though or you will be burning some fuel! For me, a real advantage to owning a 250 has been this websight. It allows you to upgade, problem solve, and modify without always re-inventing the wheel. There is not much with these boats that someone on here hasn't covered! Welcome Aboard! Willy
Good luck and welcome. I've really just begun to use the boat I purchased last November and I'm impressed. This year I have comfortably fed eight around the saloon, (four kids, four adults), motored through four foot seas and 30+ knts of wind on Narraganset bay, had a brilliant sail, and did some grilling on our new stern rail grill. She seems to be a capable vessel and lots of fun. http://gallery.me.com/ruachwrights#100016
