I have done nothing over the many years I have had my 250-since 1998. Other than a bit of vasaline on the rubber gasket at the hull, and some bleach in the ballast tank after filling every spring to keep out the crud.

Some silicone spray or silicon plumber's grease would be a better choice for use on rubber. KY gel if you have some you don't intend to use for a better purpose !
I think my response comes from hearing not to put vasaline on condoms made from latex, (which is rubber), as it will cause them to deteriorate and fail.

Actually a guy on my pier uses A&D Ointment as his lubricant of choice on the boat. This string has the potential to veer way off course...but what I mean is he uses it for turnbuckles and things like that!
